Who we are

Tapir Studios was founded in 1997 in Cygnet, a small country town in Southern Tasmania. The idea behind the Studio was to create a platform for professional artists and printmakers to develop and promote their work. Initially, Tapir Studios focused on the development of new works for printmakers but has since engaged in other related fields such as:

• studio based Primary School education projects
• disability arts projects
• community arts
• public art projects 
• arts based alternative transport projects 
• art leasing via ArtGoods

Future projects for 2011/2012 for Tapir Studios include artistic mentorships for emerging artists as well as the development of an artist in residence program.

Tapir Studios is now based in the heart of South Hobart in Tasmania.
